“Yes!” to the Democrats in Wisconsin

I am already tired of the 2022 election season, but “Yes!”

I’m fighting compassion fatigue and voter fatigue to joyfully support my local party, the Dunn County Democrats.

I live in Wisconsin, and by virtue of our demographics, we are about to have one of the most contentious election seasons in our history.

At the State level, Democrats desperately need Tony Evers to win re-election as governor. Given that the Republicans in 2010 were so effective at partisan gerrymandering that the Assembly and the Senate are locked in as Republican, Evers’ veto is the only thing blocking the right wing agenda, which is becoming increasingly extreme. The Republican agenda in Wisconsin includes voter suppression, defunding public education, undermining organized labor, blocking environmental protections, killing wolves, blocking Medicare expansion, outlawing legal abortion, killing public transportation projects, and more. Also, the Republicans have shown a penchant for consolidating power through voter suppression and election changes, so Evers’ re-election may be our only chance to save what little democracy we have left in Wisconsin.

At the National level, Democrats are pinning all of their hopes on defeating Senator Ron Johnson. I don’t think it is not too much to say that Democrats believe that future of our country…
