Yes! Both Rings of Power and Dragon are going full Bridgerton on us. Most of the main characters are white but they throw in key characters who are Black and don’t mention it. They are introducing racial diversity into fictional realms and making it irrelevant at the same time.

I think Rings deals with race by having hobbits, elves, dwarves, orcs, and men all in the same world and having them be xenophobic and reactionary. The creators are telling us that this way of being is bad. It is sort of like how in Harry Potter Rowling looked at discrimination through the lens of wizards and muggles but didn’t touch race.

Représentation always matters and I’m glad the show runners are getting their acts together.
