I have a habit of starting an essay on Medium and not finishing it. Today I looked at my ever-expanding Drafts folder and decided to work on one of the essays there. But which one?

Here are twenty options:

Climate Change:

  1. Why I am a one-issue voter. And why 2028 is too late because 2024 is already too late.

White People:

2. Identity without oppression. How can we have healthy identity formation without oppressive norms? I work with teenagers and they are trying to figure out who they are. By identifying as a white, heterosexual, male, USer, adult, I end up participating in systems that grant identity-based privilege that I didn’t ask for. I want oppression-neutral identities, like Packers-fan or dog lover or midwesterner or organic farmer or Democrat. These can bring people together without bringing people down.

Politics:

3. How Republicans failed rural voters in Wisconsin. I live in rural Wisconsin and it infuriates me that the Republicans can just assume the loyalty of rural conservative voters, while their policies have often done more harm than good to rural communities. The biggest lie told to rural voters is that our tax dollars subsidize poor urban people and immigrants…
