Well said, as always. I think when you write about masculinity you might end up exposing yourself to as many attacks from men as from women. I think your point about anger being the only acceptable male emotion is spot on.

My question is where do we go from here? If our heroes are all getting divorced? In my life I can count on one hand the number of couples I know from my friend group twenty years ago who are still together. And those relationships are not ideal. The exception seems to be my conservative Christian side and where the gender roles are more defined and the patriarchy is still functional.

I think something is broken in the way we think about committed relationships post patriarchy and Jada has been speaking about that (I have not read her book, but I have seen her speak in different places). It needed to break, but we don't seem to have clear a post-patriarchy place for men (Black or white).
