Thanks for reading, Laura. I missed this response a couple days ago. I wonder how kids these days would experience the same schools and towns that I grew up in. The Hmong families are all second and third generation now and their kids all speak english with a heavy Wisconsin accent. Many of the Somali and Spanish-speaking families are in the same category - second generation with bilingual kids. This is not the small town Wisconsin of the 1970s.

And yet... racism.
