Thank you for this thoughtful piece about a show that my partner and I loved. I really appreciated the show for all the reasons you love it, and I had not considered the ultimately conservative politics. I think of Inaros as a sort of Latin American dictator and Drummer as the freedom fighter who was betrayed by the movement. I think the show writers are probably constrained by their inability to imagine a future outside of the oppressed becomes the oppressor narrative, which is too bad. One of the problems with any series is that question of how to wrap up a series that is much better at posing questions than giving answers. I might have to read the books!
