Sadly, you might be right. We need to go left to actually improve people's lives and slow climate change, but the political will is not there. A far left candidate might get torn to shreds. In swing districts, centrists have done better than progressives. It is a conundrum because I think centrists are just driving around in circles slowly losing more and more working class voters. Sometimes I think AOC and Bernie are there only to pull the center a little to the left, which they need in order to stay relevant. Fetterman talks about how his talking points were all perceived as far left ten years ago and now many of them are part of the Democratic platform. So the slow push to the left might be the ticket. I can't wait, but I might have to. I wish we had instant run-off balloting at the national level. Then we could have a clear distinction and centrists could be centrists and they could still win, but they would need to court the progressives a little more. I also wish we didn't depend on swing voters in swing states to make the decisions for the whole country. That is the system that we live in. The Democrats won in 2020 because Trump is such a wing nut that he drove some white conservatives to vote for Biden or stay home. My dad was one of those. I don't think my dad would have voted for Bernie or Warren.

To live in a world of peace and justice we must imagine it first. For this, we need artists and writers. I write to reach for the edges of what is possible.
