My wife can trace ancestry to Ireland but if you dig a little deeper that line goes to Scotland. The English relocated Scots to Ireland as part of their subjugation plans. The Protestants in Northern Ireland are largely descended from those Scottish immigrants. In many places the Scots and Irish lived peaceably and intermarried until the troubles. So my wife has both Irish and Scottish matches in her DNA.
