I’m reading Baynard Woods book Inheritance. He writes about coming to an awareness of his own whiteness and the implications of that. He uses his own life experience to illustrate characteristics of whiteness.

One thing he says white people excel at is defensiveness and feeling aggrieved and accused.

One of his points is that would-be white anti-racists could actually use that instinct defensiveness as a tool to stand up to racism. He saw it firsthand in Charlottesville.
