I really appreciate this perspective. I write a monthly column on genealogy and have been using it to challenge white supremacy culture that underlies the way that ancestry has been used by people. This gives me a lot to think about - I think it is unsettling how many white people in the Midwest are unawarely curious about each other's ancestry without knowing how that curiosity might come off in interactions.
