I love this idea. Because of medium’s algorithms I think old stories hardly make any money anyway. I feel like if they are going to do anything it will be in the first month or at most two after publication. After that it is random pennies. So why not demonetize?

I also don’t monetize when I write about race as the primary topic. I want people to not have barriers to reading and responding and also I don’t feel comfortable as a white guy making money for writing about race.
