I live in rural Wisconsin. My neighbors a mile away (2 kilometers?) have set up a shooting range on their land. They used plywood to build a little old west town, and they have targets that pop out from behind the building facades. Their friends come with their old west pistols and park their RVs and make a weekend out of it. I know we are going to hear a lot of gunfire when I see a "cowboy shoot" sign posted on the main road. I have never attended, so I can't speak to the politics of the cowboy shootists, but I can make some guesses. The funny part is these folks are friendly and outgoing and and if you asked them, they would just say it is a fun hobby. Guns are just here.

To live in a world of peace and justice we must imagine it first. For this, we need artists and writers. I write to reach for the edges of what is possible.
