I have eighteen months worth of genealogy essays that may or may not become a book.

It is easy enough to self-publish on Medium. There is no editor telling me to cut half the words and tighten things up. But for a book, I think I would want an editor to tear me apart and challenge me.

Also, where would I put it? Self-publish on Amazon? I don't like Jeff Bezos.
