I admit I have been called. It served for jury duty. Usually they put me on a list and send me a bunch of potential court dates for the coming month. I am allowed to eliminate ones that would be a hardship for me, and I usually x out about half because my work is demanding. Then for the other half of the dates I need to wait for a call. I have never been called. I think there is something in our Justice system that encourages people to settle out of court and reach plea deals. But I admit I don’t want to serve on jury duty because it would put me behind on work. Capitalism hits all of us. I think I would be a good juror. But so far no go. Thanks for this piece.
