Hey LG - Thanks for reading and responding - it makes me want to read and write more! Seriously, I do love writing for me, but it makes a difference when a person I look up to takes the time. This piece has been on the shelf for a while, so when you started highlighting today I took a moment to reread it.

It is odd how some lessons can be such bitter pills that I forget them right away after I learn them. Rereading today was like someone else had written the essay.

I've never been much for twitter, but I recently joined BlueSky to add to the numbers there. I like seeing the news in real time with pithy takes.

This essay could never be boiled down to a BlueSky post, nor could Woodard's book. And yet, I find myself less and less drawn to books like this, or any book for that matter. It scares me to think of a world where people can only think in short unequivocal thoughts, even as I am retraining my brain to do just that.

Anyway - thanks for reading - it made my morning - if you have an old story that wants a reader send me the link.

To live in a world of peace and justice we must imagine it first. For this, we need artists and writers. I write to reach for the edges of what is possible.
