This week has been a full week of harvesting and hosting on the farm.

On Tuesday we had our biggest harvest of the season so far:

Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant, Hot Peppers, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Herbs of many varieties, Carrots, Beets, Turnips, Radishes, Potatoes, Cut Flowers, Broccoli, Cabbage, Kale, Collards, Cantaloupe, Watermelon, Apples, Garlic, Onions, Shallots, Lettuce, Green Beans, and I think that is it. Whoa. It was over $1000 dollars by the end of the two-hour market!

Then on Thursday, we hosted a class to do food preservation, help with a vet visit, cover potatoes to prevent greening, and collect and save seeds for our seed library.

Today we hosted another class to pick pumpkins, hike, and meet the animals. Shwew! I look forward to a little rest this weekend.

The crops are holding steady and we don’t expect a frost until the end of the month.

Our beautiful row of mixed sunflowers. The bees love it too.
Pickles and salsa
Warty pumpkin. I think people will love it.
I love when sunflowers are about to open!
The vein pattern on this sage caught my eye.
Tomatoes — this photo is featured this week on Pexels.
The sky this time of year can be quite majestic
Sweet Pea. Even though she is on isolation in order to recover from whatever had her falling over, she loves going outside. So every morning she gets a little outside time before the other chickens come out.
Cabbage is so beautiful. I need to make some kraut.
Before drying the seeds we are saving to plant next year, we wash them and float them in water. The sinkers are good, the floaters are suspect.
Speaking of floating, my partner and I got to go see Janelle Monae on Monday. She is AMAZING! And Flyana Boss opened and they are so fun.

In writing news, I am working on a few pieces. Masculinity. Living rural. Little House on the Prairie. A few themes I am exploring. Nothing finished, yet.

Bonus pics.

To live in a world of peace and justice we must imagine it first. For this, we need artists and writers. I write to reach for the edges of what is possible.
