First snow!

We woke up today to a beautiful snowfall. After taking a few photos, I set about disconnecting all the garden hoses and outdoor water sources. Right behind this snow, we are forecast to get 22 degrees next Tuesday. That kind of hard freeze can reach into the ground and damage potatoes, so I was out today digging up potatoes. We have about 600 pounds in the root cellar and I have about 800–1000 more to dig up. It helps that we have a ground-driven digger that I can pull with the tractor, but we still have to pick up the potatoes and sift through the soil for the ones that were buried. I’ll be glad to be done with that job!

Before the snow, we had some gorgeous days of peak fall weather.

In photography news, I have a couple of photos on Pexels that went sort of viral this week. Both photos have about 7K views, while the other 166 photos that I have on the site max out at 35 views. It was fun to open my computer and see good stats for my photos. Since Pexels is donations only, nobody has paid me anything, but I still get excited.

All photos my own

Thanks for scrolling all the way down (or is it up?) to the bottom. As a bonus for you, it was my partner Jen and I’s 20th anniversary on Wednesday. Here is a photo from 20 years ago:

And another one:

To live in a world of peace and justice we must imagine it first. For this, we need artists and writers. I write to reach for the edges of what is possible.
