Turning the corner on the weeds
Our yard is an oasis for wildlife, including this tree frog who was hanging out on a milkweed plant.
This week we did the unthinkable: we caught up with the weeds! We hoed between every plant and it’s neighbor. Then I used the tractor to destroy the weeds between the rows. Bim Bam Boom.
We also finished tying up the tomatoes and top dressing them with compost from our pile. Those are some healthy looking plants!
We also put in the seeds for our fall crop of carrots and finished planting the Brussels sprouts. The potatoes are thriving and I have not seen one single potato beetle.
We have started to pull in food from the home garden: zucchini, bok choy, green garlic, herbs, onions, and weeds that we eat (mostly lambs quarters and pigweed).
Monarda- Bee Balm
Our first raspberries
We have container cucumbers on our deck
The view from the cultivating tractor. That is popcorn in front of us.
A row of squash, happily weeded.
We got a little rain to green up the pasture
The onions right before the final weeding
After the rain we had rainbows and mammatus clouds.
See you next week!
