Still no snow!

We had a nice Christmas with our families and then a few lazy days. On Friday we went to Stillwater and met up with friends for a lingering lunch and a walk along the river. There was hoarfrost on the trees on the way to Stillwater. It was beautiful and we almost stopped the car to take photos but we were in a rush. We talked about needing to make special trips just to take pictures. Maybe we will. Growing up we would take “Sunday drives,” but I can’t remember the last time I did that.

The farm has been holding steady this week. Mostly, we feed and water the animals in the morning and shut the doors at night. There was a chicken who was killed by a predator on Christmas Eve while we were in town. I am guessing a fox or an owl. It has been warm enough that we could dig a grave for the body, which is unusual.

There were people fishing on the St. Croix River when we were there for our visit. The first time I can remember no ice for Christmas.

The sun came out. All photos by the author.

To live in a world of peace and justice we must imagine it first. For this, we need artists and writers. I write to reach for the edges of what is possible.
