As always, I appreciate your insights and am grateful for your writing. I have been thinking about this whole one race thing too and I can see how it only serves keep the same old power dynamics in place. On the other hand, I think folks like me (white, male, cis, het, etc) can and should consider giving up identifying with any of the parts of the those identities rooted in power over others. It is sort of a contradiction to me that in order to give up on those aspects of whiteness that I want to let go of, that I actually need to start by identifying as white and not looking away from my own whiteness. I need to see myself as white before I can clean it up and throw it out. Laura M Quainoo has been out there calling us white folks to task on Medium. I'm curious about your take on her work.
