Here is my entry from the previous challenge to get me psyched up to write for this one

Ideas are simmering for the new Vocal Media Fantasy Prologue with a Dragon Challenge. In the meantime, I thought I would give my Medium friends a taste of what Vocal readers have had for a while — an awesome dragon story that is actually also about our beloved llama Precious (RIP).

This was supposed to be the first chapter of a fantasy novel, which is why it feels unfinished.

Jaycee and Precious the Dragon

How a dragon saved a girl and a girl saved a dragon

“There weren’t always dragons in the valley. In fact, when I was your age, I didn’t even believe dragons were real.”

I tell this to my granddaughter Jaycee, who asked right away if I have always had a dragon. Jaycee has just been dropped off by her mother, who didn’t even get out of the car.
