It might be time to turn off the computer

My Photo. Charlotte airport.
  1. If I enter a story in a Vocal competition, are they obliged to read it?
  2. If the story in said competition has exactly zero views, is there some way that the competition judges can read it without it registering as a view? Some secret non-view view?
  3. Do I need to direct traffic to my Vocal competition stories in order to have the judges view them?
  4. If you are “just checking” notifications on Medium, do you ever click away to another website or app, and then stay there long enough that you think there might be new notifications on Medium, so you click back to Medium, just to see? Or is it just me?
  5. On a related note, do you ever finish checking notifications on your laptop, close it, and then pull out your phone and instinctively open your Medium app to see if there are any notifications? Or is it just me?
  6. On another related note, do you ever relish going to sleep or driving somewhere because you know that you will be away from your devices long enough that there might be new notifications when you do check? Do I care too much about that stupid little green bell?
  7. On another related note, if I successfully kicked my Medium notification addiction, wouldn’t I just replace it with a more…

To live in a world of peace and justice we must imagine it first. For this, we need artists and writers. I write to reach for the edges of what is possible.
